Got Energy? 

Have you ever walked into a room, when a bunch of people had just been gossiping about something, but when you walk in, it is silent.. what did you feel? Did you ever become so connected to a character in a great movie that you began to feel everything they felt, giving the movie the power to make your day or ruin it? Did you ever meet someone who was crazy busy and trying to multi-task and stand in their space for a few minutes, what happened to your body? Do you have that one friend, the one you can talk to when you are hyped and no matter what you do, they are calm, do you feel yourself settle a bit?

This, this is energy. 

Understanding and Changing Energy

Energy can be mental, physical and emotional. It is defined rather ambiguously throughout internet sources, but one thing they tend to agree on is that it gives people the capacity to do work. I view it as giving people the capacity to 'do' but also the ability to connect to intuition, decipher intentions, perceive, feel, entrain and see situations and people underneath surface layers. Energy is something we perceive with our senses. It surrounds every living thing. An individual's energy can affect others and can be affected by situations, nutrition, seasons, activity, and relationships, to name a few.

As we discussed in our Welcome, energy is also something that can be trapped within our body. Our body and mind store energy, good and bad. Energy associated with trauma, illness, car accidents, stress, fear, all of it. When energy cannot transfer, when it is 'stuck,' it can wreak havoc in our minds, bodies and spirits. 'Stuck' energy can contribute to illness, ongoing stress, sleep difficulties, difficulty focusing and so on. When energy is able to flow through the pathways and reach a neutral place, individuals are more readily available to connect with each other, form relationships, establish balance and have more productive and fulfilling routines. Many individuals will report feeling less stress and/or pain as well as improved overall sense of wellbeing when energy reaches a flow state. 

 

Working with energy is one technique in our training that allows us to help patients achieve their health and wellness goals. Therapeutic strategies such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Myofascial Release (MR) help free energy and promote wellness. We also partner with our equine members to help clients understand energy and how his/her energy may impact the system through direct mirroring and interpretation. Activity analysis and interpretation when looking at routines and responsibilities that make up clients' roles as caregivers, spouses, friends, workers, etc, allow us to determine where energy is spent and gained and help to create a plan in balancing the system to feel 'well' and energized. In addition, looking at individual spaces that make up your home or your workplace, allow us to analyze energy flow and create an organized structure that allows clients to maintain energy and focus during the day. These strategies alongside our other wellness techniques and tools including Yoga and meditation, allow clients an array of options to meet their health goals and achieve balance and joy in everyday life, essentially building a life that doesn't require vacation as an escape.
